What Umrah is and why people go

Umrah is a journey to the Kaaba that can be made on any day of the year outside the days of Hajj. The Arabic word means “a visit”: the pilgrim arrives in Makkah, enters the state of ihram and performs four acts — circles the Kaaba seven times, walks seven times between the hills of Safa and Marwa, trims the hair and leaves ihram. All of it takes a few hours; preparing for those hours takes weeks.

Scholars differ on whether Umrah is obligatory: the Hanafi and Maliki schools call it a recommended Sunnah, the Shafi'i and Hanbali schools an obligation at least once in a lifetime. Everyone agrees on the reward. The Prophet ﷺ said that an Umrah performed in Ramadan equals a Hajj, and that every Umrah wipes away the sins gathered since the previous one.

For a pilgrim from Osh, Bishkek, Tashkent or Almaty, Umrah is the most accessible way to see Makkah and Madinah: no waiting for a Hajj quota, the trip takes from 10 days, and a Hajj leader guides the group from start to finish, explaining every rite in your own language.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“One Umrah to the next is an expiation for what is between them, and an accepted Hajj has no reward but Paradise”
al-Bukhari, Muslim

Common questions before a first Umrah

1.What does the tour programme include?
Pilgrims can choose a programme according to their budget. The main difference between packages is the accommodation price: the further the hotel from the Kaaba and the lower its service level, the cheaper the package. The programme covers the full set of services: the Saudi visa arranged at the Kingdom's embassy in Bishkek, two buffet meals a day and accommodation in European-standard hotels. Flight tickets are included as well. Our reliable partners are Turkish Airlines and flydubai. We provide transfers to the hotel and back on high-comfort coaches, the journey between Madinah and Makkah, and escort by experienced guides who love their work and know the rules of staying in an Arab country well.
2.When can Umrah be performed?
According to Islamic rules Muslims may perform Umrah at any time of the year. The special case is the holy month of Ramadan: in this period Umrah equals Hajj in reward, so one can worship the Almighty and be cleansed of sins in a single journey to the holy places. The minor pilgrimage can also be combined with Hajj — in Islam this is called Tamattu; at least 8 days of the blessed month of Dhul-Hijjah must pass between the two. Experienced pilgrims know the two rites can be joined in Qiran: having performed Umrah, the believer stays in ihram until the main feast — the day of sacrifice in the valley of Mina, Eid al-Adha.
3.Who may perform Umrah?
The pilgrimage to the holy places is for financially able Muslims who owe nothing to the state or utilities, nor to credit institutions, banks, friends or relatives. Only physically and mentally healthy adults who earn an honest living may perform Umrah. Those restricted in movement, women in iddah or pregnancy, and people of either sex who divorced or lost a spouse within the last 4 months may not travel to the Kaaba. Unmarried Muslim women under 45 must travel to the Arab country only accompanied by a mahram — an adult male relative.
4.Can a woman travel to Umrah alone?
Muslim women under 45 cannot travel to Umrah on their own. They must be accompanied by a mahram — a male blood relative (father, brother, another close relative) or the husband.
5.Is a biometric passport required?
No, it is not required.
